Holiday house with a garden, a garden house and an outdoor pool, for non-smokers
A 100-year-old residential house has been converted into the “Alte Käserei” holiday house, at the edge of the Thümmlitz forest in Kössern, part of the town Grimma.
The house was fully renovated in 2000 and comprehensively refurbished in 2011. The farmhouse style has been largely preserved, such as the original doors and stairs and suitable furnishing. The walls have been designed using old techniques, with the flair of the late 19th century. The non-smoking house of 80m² provides a comfortable stay for four guests, although up to seven people can be accommodated with the addition of supplementary beds. Games, books, bicycles, wireless Internet access and on request a computer with Internet access can be provided. The accommodation is spread over two complete floors and a mezzanine. The ground floor has a large entrance area with a wardrobe, a bedroom with a double bed, a TV set, a radio, and an adjoining room with a sofa bed as an additional bed. The mezzanine has a well-equipped kitchen with two cooking rings, a fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee machine, cutlery and crockery, as well as a bathroom with a shower, WC and washbasin. The hot water is heated by solar panels, supplemented by conventional heating. The upper floor comprises a living room with satellite TV, a sofa bed and a stereo system/CD player, a bedroom with two single beds and another adjoining room. Wireless Internet access is available throughout the house. On the upper floor there is also cable Internet access.
As guests, you have a private garden with a little garden house (6m diameter,3m height), garden furniture, deckchairs and a lawn. The 4.5 x 7m pool (depth 1.5m) can be used at any time, if temperatures allow it. You can smoke in the garden and the roofed entrance area outdoors. Up to three cars can be parked in the private parking area.
A quiet holiday, a friendly welcome, soft tourism and a commitment to this beautiful and historic area are the hallmarks of the owners. Families with children and the elderly are welcome. Business travelers looking for peace and quiet after a day of work will also find it here, as will hikers and cyclists, even if only for a night. You are welcome to bring your pet, to be agreed in advance. An enclosure is available on site. It is not possible for pets to run around freely on site. The quiet surroundings provide the opportunity to go on extensive walks in the Thümmlitz Forest or in the Colditzer Forst. It is about 2km to the Thümmlitzsee lake and the modern outdoor pool at Kleinbothen. Culture and art lovers will find the baroque hunting house at Kössern 250m away, a Pöppelmann building from 1709, which has become a well-known cultural site. The towns Grimma and Colditz with their historical town centres and museums are 10km away. The 400-souls village Kössern is an ideal starting point for exploring the towns Leipzig, Chemnitz, Meißen and Dresden in Sachsen, within 30-80km. Bad Lausick (12km) has the RIFF leisure pool with thermal water and a quiet sauna area. You can ride through wonderful landscapes on the Muldentalbahn railway, while cyclists will find beautiful roads and paths, and in winter you can go cross-country skiing in the forests. In summer you can jog for hours. Rustic country inns can be found within 2km. There are all kinds of sports and entertainment in Grimma. The nearest supermarket is 2km away. The owner is happy to provide additional gastronomic and tourist services. You can use the host’s fax on request, as well as the PC for Internet access. The house has a telephone you can use for incoming calls. For outgoing calls you can get coins from the host. The “Alte Käserei” and its surroundings provide a range of options for a holiday according to your own wishes.
