Near the North Pennines, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this charming house is perfectly located to tour the Yorkshire Dales, Northumberland with its majestic castles and magnificent beaches, and the Lake District is an hour’s drive away.
Close by is the picturesque village of Neasham with a friendly pub and riverside walks, whilst Durham Tees Valley airport is only 4 miles.
The owner, who lives on the estate, can organise many activities for visitors by arrangement including rough shooting, canoeing (canoes not provided), deer stalking (at cost), fishing (free), cycles for guests use, horse riding and badger and bird watching (70 species seen). The appealing market towns of Richmond, Yarm and North Allerton make an interesting day out. Stabling and paddock available (for 1 horse, at cost). Shops, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

A lovely holiday spot in a beautiful house and grounds. The house is spacious, clean and tidy and we would certainly consider returning. The one couch has seen better days and could do with replacing but otherwise all very good. If you plan on cooking / eating in I would recommend you take your own sharp knives

I’d say cutlery and tableware could be improved if a party of 10 were visiting- however there were only 3 of us and 2 dogs so perfectTake your own dog bowlsTake a hairdryer We would definitely go back just for the interesting property- wildlife and walks

Fab trip and a lovely house. The Ashes is a cosy and peaceful getaway in beautiful surroundings. 10 of us stayed for a birthday celebration over 4 nights, and everyone enjoyed their stay.
