Philosophy and sea view – await you at Casetta di Diogene, a gem at tranquil Conca dei Marini, not far from Amalfi. The charming maisonette apartment with its typically Amalfi-style cupola ceiling is sure to fascinate romantics.

Die hübsche Wohnung ist Diogenes gewidmet, dem antiken griechischen Philosophen und Vorsokratiker, dem Sie während Ihres Aufenthaltes des Öfteren begegnen werden – in den Büchern des bekannten italienischen Schriftstellers Luciano De Crescenzo. Tochter Paola und ihr Mann Raffaele haben die einst verlassene Casetta di Diogene in ein wahres Schmuckstück verwandelt und es auch mit reichlich Literatur von Papa Luciano ausgestattet.

Darum machen Sie es sich auf dem Liegestuhl im Galeriebereich der Wohnung gemütlich, genießen Sie den Blick auf das tiefe Blau vor dem Fenster und tauchen Sie ein in das Leben und die Lehren von Diogenes & Co.

ALSO SPRACH BELLAVISTA
Eine "bella vista" erwartet Sie sowohl von der Wohnung aus als auch auf der möblierten und teils überdachten Terrasse, die sich wenige Treppenstufen unterhalb der Wohnung befindet. Die Sicht kann mittlerweile durch die wachsende Vegetation etwas eingeschränkt sein.

KOMPLETT RENOVIERT MIT ELEGANZA UND STIL
Klein, fein und sehr individuell wurde der Innenbereich der Casetta di Diogene gestaltet. Ein Galerieboden wurde eingezogen, um mehr Raum zu gewinnen. Schlaf- und Wohnbereich konnten somit getrennt werden.

In den Galeriebereich mit Doppelbett und Klimaanlage (warm/kalt) führt eine schmale Wendeltreppe. Paola hat hier noch eine kleine Leseecke mit Liegestuhl, Bücherregal und Leselampe eingerichtet.

Stilvoll und mit vielen kleinen, liebevollen Details ist der Wohnbereich gestaltet. Ausgestattet ist er u.a. mit Schlafsofa für eine 3. Person.

In der Küchenzeile, in der Sie selbstverständlich Keramik-Geschirr aus Vietri sul Mare vorfinden, wurden Arbeitsplatte und Abzugshaube in reiner Handarbeit aus modernem Beton gearbeitet, sie sind ein echter Blickfang gegenüber den hellen hohen Wänden. Der alte Holztisch fügt sich perfekt in das moderne Ambiente der Ferienwohnung ein.

Besonders schön ist der Blick auf das Meer und die an eine Felswand gebaute Kirche Concas, den Sie bereits beim morgendlichen Kaffee geschenkt bekommen.

Unter der Schlafgalerie befindet sich das Bad, das durch einen gemauerten Spitzbogen über WC und Bidet und die markanten Fliesen seine ganz eigene Charakteristik erhält. Eine gemauerte Duschkabine und eine Waschmaschine haben ebenfalls in dem kleinen Bad des Diogenes Platz gefunden.

"DIE ZEIT UND DAS GLÜCK"
So lautet der Titel eines von De Crescenzos Büchern. Unter diesem Motto könnte auch Ihr Urlaub in der Casetta di Diogene stehen. An Glücksmomenten und Wow-Effekten wird es Ihnen beim Anblick der grandiosen Küstenlandschaft zwischen Positano und Vietri sul Mare ganz sicher nicht fehlen.

Für den einen ein Luxus, für den anderen eine sportliche Herausforderung ist der Weg zum Strand von Conca dei Marini. Über idyllische Treppenwege (ca. 600 Stufen) können Sie diesen zu Fuß erreichen.

Eine Einkaufsmöglichkeit, Bars, das Restaurant La Bontà del Capo und die Trattoria-Pizzeria La Piazza sind nach ca. 300 m schnell zu Fuß erreicht. Im Bontà del Capo haben Sie außerdem die Möglichkeit, täglich (außer sonntags) an einer geführten Lemon Tour teilzunehmen und in die kulinarischen Traditionen Ihrer Urlaubsregion einzutauchen.

Falls Sie auf ein Auto ganz oder teilweise verzichten möchten, haben wir noch einen speziellen Tipp für Sie: In der Via Roma finden Sie einen Motorroller- und Fahrradverleih. Die Fahrzeuge können sogar stundenweise ausgeliehen werden.
Zudem sind die Orte Amalfi, Positano, Praiano, Ravello und Sorrent gut mit den öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln zu erreichen.

The lovely apartment is dedicated to Diogenes, the ancient Greek, pre-Socratic philosopher, whom you will 'meet' more than once during your stay – in the books of renowned Italian author Luciano De Crescenzo. His daughter Paola and her husband Raffaele have not only turned once deserted Casetta di Diogene into a real gem, they have also furnished it with a lot of papa Luciano’s writings.

THUS SPAKE BELLAVISTA
So, make yourself comfortable in the reading corner in the apartment’s gallery, dive a bit into the life and teachings of Diogenes & Co. and in between let your gaze wander out through the window onto the deep blue of the sea.

A bella vista also awaits you on the furnished and partly roofed terrace a few steps below the apartment. As the plants and trees have meanwhile grown, the view might be somewhat restricted.

COMPLETELY RENOVATED – WITH ELEGANZA AND STYLE
The inside of Casetta di Diogene can be described as small, fine and quite individual in design and layout. The gallery was installed to gain more space and to separate the sleeping and living areas.
A narrow spiral staircase runs up to the gallery with double bed and air conditioning (warm/cold). There’s also a small reading corner with comfortable chair, book shelf and reading lamp.

The apartment’s living area has been designed with style and a love for detail. Furnishing includes a sofa bed (3rd person), TV, WiFi, dining furniture and a kitchenette (incl. refrigerator, gas stove, mini oven), where you of course find crockery from Vietri sul Mare. The kitchenette’s hand-crafted worktop and range hood made of a modern kind of cement contrast with the bright, high walls and catch your eye immediately. The old wooden table fits well with the apartment’s modern ambience.
Beautiful to behold right in the morning with your first cup of coffee – the view of the sea and of Conca’s church built onto a rock face.

In the bathroom below the sleeping gallery, the recess in form of a pointed arch above WC/bidet and the striking tiles are quite remarkable. A masonry shower cubicle and a washing machine have also been fitted into the small bathroom of Diogenes.

Note concerning the parking situation: Casetta di Diogene is located in a traffic-calmed zone, for which guests will receive an access permit and where a few chargeable public parking spaces are available. On request, a private parking space (extra charge) near Ristorante Bontà del Capo can be reserved in advance. The accommodation is not directly accessible by car!

IL TEMPO E LA FELICITÀ (TIME AND HAPPINESS)
That's the title of one of De Crescenzo’s books and it could be the motto for your holidays at Casetta di Diogene. Given the terrific coastal landscape between Positano and Vietri sul Mare, moments of joy and of being wowed will be aplenty.

They are physically challenging, but if you are fit enough you might give them a try: the idyllic stepped paths (ca. 600 steps) you can walk along to the beach of Conca dei Marini.
A shopping facility, bars, restaurant La Bontà del Capo and trattoria-pizzeria La Piazza are about 300 m from the accommodation. At Bontà del Capo, you can take part in a guided Lemon Tour (not on Sundays) and 'dive into' the culinary traditions of your holiday region.

A tip for those who want to make do (at least partly) without a car: the scooter and bike rental in Via Roma. The vehicles can also be rented by the hour.
The towns of Amalfi, Positano, Praiano, Ravello and Sorrento are easy to reach by public means of transportation.

Hinweise zur Parksituation: Die Casetta liegt in einer verkehrsberuhigten Zone, für die Gäste eine Zufahrtserlaubnis bekommen. Dort stehen wenige, aber öffentliche Parkplätze gegen Gebühr zur Verfügung. Ein privater gebührenpflichtiger Stellplatz beim Ristorante Bontà del Capo kann auf Wunsch vorab reserviert werden. Die Casetta ist nicht direkt mit dem Auto erreichbar!
