A short drive from Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, Maison Primevère is such a delightful holiday home, the type of place you will yearn to return to year after year thanks to its lovely setting in a charming Provençal village and its magnificent swimming pool and pool house.
This attractive white maison has only recently been renovated and its owners have created a bright and welcoming abode with pretty décor and lots of character. The open-plan living and dining space downstairs features cool tiled floors and wood-beamed ceilings alongside modern furnishings whilst the French kitchen is so pretty as well as being well-equipped. Upstairs, three queen-size doubles, a twin/double and a triple with a set of bunk-beds allows up to 11 guests to stay across the five air-conditioned bedrooms, making it ideal for an extended family or small group of friends.
The garden and swimming pool will enchant you even more – oleander, lavender and jasmine add an abundance of Provençal colour whilst cypress trees and mature hedges surround the magnificent swimming pool area which is conveniently gated for youngsters. Enjoy a coffee beneath the pergola as the kids play ping-pong, then challenge a loved one to a game of pétanque on the court to the side of the house which can be atmospherically lit up at night.
Stepping through the gate, admire the majestic olive tree behind the 10m long swimming pool surrounded by sun-loungers and head towards the fantastic pool house, such a superb and stylish space with a convivial wooden table and benches, lounging chairs and a gas plancha for al-fresco feasts, not to mention the poolside shower and WC – everything you need for a relaxing and joyful time.
It’s just a 300m stroll to the little village centre with its shop where you can pick up fresh bread and groceries. Other nearby villages are easily reached by car or bike such as Saint-Andiol and Mollégès, home to restaurants, a weekly market and further amenities. This area is great for keen walkers as well as cyclists with local roads passing orchards, plane trees, wild flowers and olive groves.
Only 12km away, artistic Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, so loved by Van Gogh, is one of the great draws of this region, especially on a Wednesday morning with its vibrant market, whilst a visit to picture-perfect Eygalières is also a must with its café terraces, beautiful stone houses and glorious views of Les Alpilles.
Further afield, spend time admiring the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Avignon, follow more of Van Gogh’s footsteps in Arles or Gordes, appreciate the beauty of the Sorgue on a canoeing or kayaking excursion from Fontaine-de-Vaucluse or potter around the Sunday morning brocante in L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue in this wonderful and diverse part of Provence.
