South Shields is also home to two wonderful parks, South and North Marine Park, where you can feed the ducks and swans at the boating lake and enjoy a miniature steam train ride, before stopping off for some hot sour cherries and ice cream at the café.

If you wish to marvel at local sights, you can go for a scenic stroll along the coast to the renowned St.

Mary’s Lighthouse, or travel a little further and check out the breath-taking Tynemouth Priory & Castle; or take a walk to the end of its pier to reach the Tynemouth Pier Lighthouse.
