Stara Novalja is a charming, historic village located in the protected cove on the northwestern side of Pag Island, approximately 5 km from Novalja. With roots tracing back to ancient times—Roman remains, a Byzantine fortress, and pre-Romanesque churches—it offers a rich cultural backdrop.
The sheltered bay features a small port (“Drljanda”) accommodating yachts and fishing vessels up to 3.5 m draft, offering excellent protection from wind. This safe harbor, combined with calm, clear waters, attracts divers drawn to submerged archaeological sites with over a hundred ancient amphorae.
Stara Novalja boasts numerous sandy and pebble beaches, including the Blue Flag–certified Planjka (Trinćel) beach, ideal for families seeking tranquility. The mild Mediterranean climate ensures pleasant conditions from May through October.
